Captain J is the owner and creator of Captain J’s Kauai Offshore Adventures and Deep Sea Fishing Kauai which he started in 2002. Captain J is always looking for opportunity and when he sees it, he goes for it. He is a passionate man, and when he starts something he does it with 110% effort and commitment. He has a true passion for the ocean and building the businesses he has created. He is currently widening the Kauai offshore Adventures fleet with another 37 foot Naiad super raft. Captain J loves what he does, because he enjoys diversity and the people he meets along the way

Miguel is one of our Captains at Captain J’s Kauai Offshore Adventures. He has many years of experience on the ocean and has been a licensed captain since he was 29. He has sailed the pacific four times and has worked at maritime academies. Miguel loves working with Captain J’s because he gets to drive the fastest boat along the NaPali Coast. He also enjoys hunting, scuba diving, and fishing and has his own cacao company. Miguel moved to Hawaii in 2003.

I love the ocean, being on it, in it, or near it makes me feel good.  I moved to Kauai in 2017 after living in northern Nevada for 35+ years, where I operated a successful Scuba shop.  I have had the great fortune to travel to and dive in exotic locations.  Along the way I became a licensed Boat Captain.  Working with Captain Js has been one of the best decisions I have made. I get to play on the water every day, meet and make new friends, and do it all while looking at the most beautiful coastline in the world.

Descendant of seafaring Captains, his ancestors traveled from Portugal who brought forth many immigrants to the Hawaiian Islands during the 1800’s. His passion for navigating the ocean is founded on respect for the ocean and is fueled by either surfing, kitesurfing, scuba diving and fishing. Time spent on Na Pali has been different over the years, but he holds an unbreakable connection with Na Pali that grows with each adventure!

Kalaheo, Kauai

Kannon is a 17-year-old ocean lover and crew member for Captain J’s Offshore Adventures. He loves to dive and surf. He was born and raised on Kauai and was home schooled which gave him lots of time to go diving and surfing. He is passionate about his work and chose this career because it gives him the opportunity to meet new people and allows him to be on the ocean almost every day.

Hanapepe, Kauai

Sylas joined Captain J’s in April 2021 as he was only a Junior in high school. He
started out as a deckhand on fishing boats and Captain J saw potential in him. Captain J brought him down the Napali Coast on the Kauai Voyager 1, a 37-foot Naiad super raft. Sylas then started working on the raft every day and is now our lead crew. When he’s not working at Captain J’s, he’s on the boat fishing or at home building boats. Since Sylas grew up fishing around his family, it’s truly become his passion. “Working on the raft, meeting new people every day, and having the Napali Coast as an office is amazing, I love my job!”

Kaelyn was born in Northern Arizona and moved to Kauai from Southwest Montana to be near her family who are living here. She has always had a love for the ocean and wildlife, and enjoys hiking adventures and beach time.
